The 'Django Unchained' actress says that although her recent marriage is not a secret, she prefers not to openly talk about it.

In Glamour magazine's October issue, "Scandal" star Kerry Washington explains why she has remained tight-lipped about her romance and recent marriage to NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha. The 36-year-old actress and the San Francisco 49ers cornerback dated for a year before tying the knot in June this year in a ceremony that took place in Hailey, Idaho.
"I learned through experience that it doesn't work for me to talk about my personal life," said the "Django Unchained" star. "I've had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. But I couldn't just turn around and say, 'I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.' So I just thought, 'OK, no more.' "
Washington pointed out that she never denied being married to Asomugha, saying, "I'm walking around in the world with my ring. And when people say congratulations, I say thank you. But I'm going to continue to not talk about it and just let it unfold." Although she doesn't have any issues with her celebrity pals who talk about their private lives, she says it's "not for me" and prefers the opposite approach, and that "the point is to do what's best for me."
Prior to meeting Asomugha, Washington was engaged to actor David Moscow from October 2004 to March 2007 and even appeared in the cover of a 2005 issue of the bridal magazine InStyle Weddings.
