George Eads Temporarily Departs From 'CSI' After Sparring With Writer

The Nick Stokes depicter takes a leave of absence from the CBS series after reportedly getting into an on-set altercation with a pregnant writer.

George Eads will not be featured in several episodes of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" season 14. A rep for CBS TV Studios says in a statement, "George Eads will not appear in several episodes during the first half of the season. We look forward to him returning to CSI very soon." Eads will appear in the first three episodes, but it's unknown when he will return to the show.

Rumor has it, the original cast member who plays Nick Stokes on the long-running police procedural series takes a leave of absence after engaging in a heated exchange with one of the show's writers. Sources say the actor sparred with the eight-months-pregnant co-writer over his character's storyline. Learning this, executive producer Carol Mendelsohn then had a meeting with Eads which reportedly ended with Eads threatening to quit.

This is not the first time Eads departs from the show. The actor, along with fellow original cast member Jorja Fox, was briefly fired from "CSI" in 2004 over salary demands. He, however, is bound to return as a series regular in season 14.

"CSI" will debut the new season on September 25 on CBS. Marg Helgenberger is set to reprise her role as Catherine in the landmark 300th episode, which is said to address Eads' absence as well.
