Kelly Clarkson Describes VMA Performers as Pitchy Strippers

The 'American Idol' winner tweets a spot on critique on performances by Miley Cyrus and Lady GaGa.

AceShowbiz - As soon as the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards unraveled on August 25 at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, Twitter-verse went a-buzz with reactions, especially after the performances of Miley Cyrus and Lady GaGa who were practically singing in their underwear. And one of those who gave the most spot critique, if not the most accurate depiction for those shocking spots in the show, was no other than Kelly Clarkson who described the performances with "#pitchystrippers".

"Just saw a couple performances from the VMA's last night. 2 words.... #pitchystrippers," wrote Clarkson. The "American Idol" champion could not be faulted for criticizing the quality of the singing, being of course, a talented songstress herself who could give both Cyrus and GaGa a run for their money in terms of powerful vocals.

And then there's the stripping, with Cyrus peeling her one-piece bodysuit to reveal a nude bra and underwear during her performance with Robin Thicke and GaGa undressing to her seashell bra and barely-there thong. More than the exposure, Cyrus stunned everyone, even the celebrities who were watching from the audience, when she suggestively grinded against Thicke and made some offensive gestures with a giant foam finger.

Among those not amused by Cyrus' raunchy antics is her on-screen mother on "Hannah Montana", Brooke Shields, who said, "I do not approve" during an interview on the "Today" show. "I just want to know who's advising her, and why it's necessary. I mean, the whole finger thing, and the hand...Robin [Thicke] probably at that point was going, 'I don't think this is a good idea'. [Our children] can't watch that. I feel like it's a bit desperate."
