AceShowbiz - Joel Madden confirms that the police found a small amount of marijuana in his Sydney hotel room but they did not lay a charge. "Sunday while I was at work, a hotel employee found a small amount of marijuana in my hotel room," he wrote in a Tumblr post on June 11.

"The police were called and responded. Sydney is my adopted home and I appreciate the way the police handled the situation. They have informed me there will be no charges. I hope this didn't cause too much drama for everyone," he continued.

The Sydney Morning Herald previously reported that a cleaning person found less than 5 grams of marijuana in the Good Charlotte frontman's Darling Hotel room at about 4:30 P.M. on Sunday night. The cleaning person contacted the police after finding the prohibited drug. Madden reportedly was present when the police searched the room. The police only gave him a warning because the drug was found in a small amount.

Following the drug bust, Nicole Richie's husband was booted out of the hotel. "Joel Madden was ejected from the hotel because a small amount of cannabis was found inside his hotel room. In Australia there is a zero tolerance for this no matter where you are," a manager of the hotel told TMZ.

A spokesperson for Channel Nine also confirmed that the authorities would not press charge against the coach of Australia's "The Voice". The spokesperson declined to comment whether the father of two would be sacked from the show.
