Movie

The Barbara of 'Don Jon' and the Juniper of 'Mud' are in the mix to portray the wife of Bill Clinton in James Ponsoldt-directed 'Rodham'.

After getting "The Spectacular Now" director James Ponsoldt attached last April, "Rodham" now focuses on finding the best actress who will make a perfect portrayal of Hillary Clinton. First breaking the news, The Independent spills out a big reveal, claiming that several big names in Hollywood are considered for the role.

Scarlett Johansson and Reese Witherspoon are named among the frontrunners for the role of 26-year-old Hillary Rodham. The Black Widow depicter in Marvel's films and the Elle Woods of "Legally Blonde" reportedly have to compete against the likes of Jessica Chastain and Amanda Seyfried to win the coveted role.

Of such strong contenders lining up for leading his project, Ponstoldt said, "They're all wonderful actresses. We're very fortunate that a lot of really great actors are interested in playing these roles. We're in an enviable position."

"Regardless of people's political affiliation or how they feel about Hillary Clinton, you don't find people who question the quality of her intelligence or her drive," added the man behind the lens for "Smashed". "I want a wonderful actress who could embody that."

The film will use Black List scribe Kim Young Il's script. The script allegedly includes many racy scenes, which the South Korean descent has recently denied. "I didn't write 50 Shades of Rodham, as some news outlets are suggesting. I am a boring prude with little imagination," he told The Daily Telegraph.

Asked whether he would include sex scenes in his final draft, Young Il coyly replied, "It's an evolving process so I don't know. She was an attractive 26-year-old with an amazing future. And that's our thematic focus."

"Rodham" is set to be released during the 2016 Presidential Election.
