Adam Lambert might just turn out to be the ultimate diva in this year's "VH1 Divas" TV special. The season eight runner-up of "American Idol" showed what his pipes are made of in a series of promo videos for the event he will be hosting on December 16.

The promo clips are short, but packed with a lot of power vocals from Lambert who also appears in an elegantly styled tapered black tuxedo. One of the videos sees the 30-year-old "Idol" alum trying to choose the perfect microphone for his vocal display in an empty theater. He goes through three mics until he finally takes a hold of the third one and suddenly belts out the signature high notes he is known for.

Midway through his vocalizing, things start shaking, chandeliers swing, and glasses from the theater lights start shattering. However, shattering glasses is not the only funny thing that Lambert does in the video. In another clip, he also coats his throat, makes tea with a lot of honey, and conjures up what seems to be a secret potion able to give him that extra vocal pull.

This is the "American Idol" alum's first appearance in the event, which will also feature performances from Miley Cyrus, Jordin Sparks, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland, and Ciara. The TV special will also pay tribute to singer Whitney Houston and Donna Summers for their huge contributions in the music industry. Houston and Summers were also familiar faces in VH1, appearing several times in the past years before their deaths early this year.

"VH1 Divas" will air live on Sunday, December 16 at 9/8c.
