Rumor has it, Theroux doesn't want to put Aniston on the spot that gives the media an opportunity to link her again to her ex-husband Brad Pitt and his fiancee Angelina Jolie.

AceShowbiz - The fact that Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux were engaged on his 41st birthday seemed like it was planned to be a perfect gift for the birthday actor, but there's more to the story if Chicago-Sun Times could be trusted. A source suggested the engagement could happen earlier, but Theroux chose to delay it in purpose.
Theroux reportedly didn't propose to Aniston sooner because he didn't want people to think that they were racing to the altar against her ex-husband Brad Pitt, who announced engagement to Angelina Jolie last April. Aniston was linked to Brangelina love triangle since her split from the "Moneyball" actor in 2005.
Although they were engaged on August 10, Theroux waited two days to officially announce their engagement because he allegedly wanted to make sure that the Brangelina wedding rumors were not true. The "Rock of Ages" screenwriter once again didn't want to give the media "another opportunity to beat that dead horse."
Theroux and Aniston haven't planned their wedding just yet. Even if the couple has already talked about marriage, "it will be run just like a top-secret government operation," the actress' friend said. "I'm betting it will also happen somewhere overseas - where and when you least expect it!"
Last February, Aniston revealed how she has had enough of being constantly linked to Brangelina. "It's a story headline that won't go away," she said, annoyed by the persistent stories. "It's a money thing - (people make money off) a story that has nothing to do with reality."
