The Boys file complaint against the energy-drink company for the unconsented use of 'Sabotage', 'So What'cha Want' and 'Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun'.

AceShowbiz - Beastie Boys slam Monster Energy for using portions of their hit singles in a promotional ad without their consent. Michael "Mike D" Diamond, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz and the Estate of late Adam "MCA" Yauch demand retraction and seek unspecified damages for the unlicensed music.
In the lawsuit, the group believe the ad created for Monster Energy's 2012 Ruckus in the Rockies event "comprised substantially of excerpts from the Beastie Boys Sound Recordings and the Beastie Boys Musical Compositions totaling more than three minutes in duration."
"The text accompanying Monster's internet postings, video and MP3 conveyed to consumers the impression that Beastie Boys permitted the use of their name and intellectual property, and participated in connection with Monster's promotion of its products and events," they complain.
The songs that are believed to be featured in the commercial are "Sabotage" from the Boys' 1994 No. 1 album "Ill Communication", "So What'cha Want" from their 1992 Top-10 effort "Check Your Head" and "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun" from their 1989 Top-15 CD "Paul's Boutique".
