'The Vampire Diaries': Damon, Elena and Stefan's Love Triangle Will Continue in Season 4

Executive producer Julie Plec says Elena is not regretting her decision to be with Stefan, but it does not necessarily mean the end of Damon and Elena's romantic storyline.

AceShowbiz - While Elena has made her choice between Damon and Stefan, her transition into a vampire will affect her relationship with the two Salvatores in "The Vampire Diaries" season 4. Executive producer Julie Plec says, "All these things that she's experienced with Damon and with Stefan will have different context for her as she's becoming this new person."

Although Damon has sort of given up his chance to be with Elena and will return to his old, wild ways, Plec insists, "It's certainly not the end of Delena, as anyone might be afraid." She adds, "In fact, in a way, it's the beginning of the beginning."

Though so, Elena is likely to be seen sticking on her decision to be with Stefan in early of the fourth season. "I wouldn't want her to be so fickle," Plec gushes, but notes that the regained knowledge will "imbed itself in her brain a little bit. As she continues to look at herself and her relationship and friendship with Damon, it's all those new pieces of information that will be important along the way."

Despite what Plec calls a "horrific" situation, the bond between the three is going to be stronger. "[The circumstance] is going to make them all care about each other even more deeply and argue even more intensely and fracture even more greatly and love as deeply as possible," she reveals.

As for Jeremy and his ex-girlfriend Bonnie, Plec says they "are very bonded to each other." She goes on teasing, "In spite of having found a piece of closure in their relationship, they will continue to be drawn to each other emotionally. Whether it's romantically or not, I can't really say."

Speaking of another couple Tyler and Caroline, Plec hints that the arrival of someone important to Tyler from his past could be a threat to their relationship. She shares, "Any time a hot, new girl comes to town, somebody's got to be worried about something. But Tyler and Caroline have a really solid bond, a really solid relationship. So it takes somebody really special to get in the way of that."

"Vampire Diaries" season 4 will premiere Thursday, October 11 at 8 P.M. on The CW. In addition to bringing back Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder as the three key characters, the show taps Todd Williams to star as Connor, "a mysterious and powerful new vampire hunter who comes to Mystic Falls."
