To open in U.S. theaters on January 13, 2012, "Contraband" revolves around Wahlberg's Chris Farraday, a man who is trying to stay out of a world he worked so hard to leave behind. He then lives with a wife that he'll do anything to protect. Set in New Orleans, the movie explores the cutthroat underground world of international smuggling, where loyalty rarely exists and death is one wrong turn away.

Joining Wahlberg in the cast ensemble are Kate Beckinsale as Farraday's wife, Caleb Landry Jones as his brother-in-law Andy, Ben Foster as his best friend Sebastian, and Giovanni Ribisi as the mafia boss Tim Briggs. The crime action is directed by Baltasar Kormakur with Aaron Guzikowski penning the script.
