The first footage from "The Tempest" has been given away in a full trailer which makes its way out via Apple. Romance, humor and supernatural things are seen in this video which gives preview to Prospera, a sorcerer reigning over a magical island, who takes revenge on her traitorous brother Antonio.

She has to defend her throne not only from her brother and nobleman Sebastian, but also a pair of fools who team up with the island native, Caliban, to overthrow the island. While unleashing her wicked power to her enemies, Prospera gives her consent to the instant love between her daughter Miranda and marooned Prince Ferdinand.

"The Tempest" is based on Shakespeare's play of the same title. Helen Mirren takes the lead role of Prospera, who is supposed to be male Prospero in the original story. Djimon Hounsou, Ben Whishaw, Chris Cooper, Alan Cumming, Felicity Jones, Russell Brand and Alfred Molina also land roles in the film.

This Julie Taymor-directed movie was recently premiered at New York Film Festival but it apparently did not impress critics despite the digital visual effects added to the famous tale and the all-star cast. Decide your own opinion when this drama opens wide in U.S. theaters on December 10.
