Video Premiere: Wale's 'The Work'
Music

The Interscope Records artist said at the beginning of the video, 'I consider myself one of the best young, new rappers as well as the best out, active rapper right now.'

AceShowbiz - The mixtape has been released and a music video follows. "The Work", taken from Wale's August 3 release titled "More About Nothing", has been given a music video treatment which is directed by David Banks. The rapper opens the video with a narration about his achievement in being one of the best young and active rappers today.

"More About Nothing" is a sequel to his "Seinfeld" themed mixtape "The Mixtape About Nothing" which is considered Wale's most successful effort so far. His debut album "Attention: Deficit" was a disappointment in sale when it was dropped last year, selling about 28,000 copies in the first week. However, "More About Nothing" scores better in download by getting reportedly 100,000 hits in less than 90 minutes.

Still, Wale is not satisfied with the number. In an interview with MTV he said, "It damages your pride, your ego, it makes you think you're not doing something right. I wanted to channel the Wale [that existed] before I ever signed a record deal." He continued, "That's why you hear that vigor and hunger in my voice while I'm rapping. I was trying to go super-crazy in the booth to let them know that the hunger is still there. It's to my label, the fans, to the doubters. I'm trying to prove myself."

On another news, Wale will take part in the second annual Kevin Durant and Wale Celebrity Birthday Weekend in Washington this September 17 to 19. It raises money and awareness for youth programs that promote nonviolence. The weekend's events include "School of Rock", a mentoring initiative, the "Back 2 School Celebrity Bowling Tournament", and various birthday celebrations at D.C. area nightspots.
