Sam Worthington Is Future Pilot Dan Dare

The Australian actor is reportedly slated to be a British pilot in 'Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future', a movie adaptation of the comic strips hero.

AceShowbiz - After portraying an ex-marine in "Avatar", Sam Worthington is set to be sent for another mission. The depicter of Jake Sully in the James Cameron-directed sci-fi has signed on to play a pilot in "Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future", so Pajiba reports.

Though he is an Australian, Worthington is said chosen to be the titular character who is claimed as the British Buck Rogers and is also the chief of the Interplanet space fleet. Dan Dare was created by Frank Hampson and has appeared in comic strips since 1950.

There is still no word on who will direct the "Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future" which has been picked by Warner Bros. Pictures. Though so, Pajiba notes that the sci-fi movie project is now a priority for the studio.

Prior to "Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future", Sam Worthington has been tapped to tackle the lead role in "The Fields" in which he will share screen with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. As of late, he was also rumored to play Dracula in "Dracula Year Zero", but his involvement has not been confirmed yet. He will be next seen playing Perseus in "Clash of the Titans" which is set to be unleashed in the U.S. on April 2.
