Daniel Radcliffe Not Interested in 'The Hobbit'
Movie

Listed among the potential actors to star as Bilbo Baggins, the star of the 'Harry Potter' series says no to director Guillermo del Toro's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's novel.

AceShowbiz - Another rumored potential candidate for Bilbo Baggins has shot down possibility of him joining "The Hobbit". After "Doctor Who" star David Tennant put the brakes on speculation of him being listed among the contenders for the lead character, "Harry Potter" series' leading man Daniel Radcliffe has uttered his lack of interest on the part.

"I'd have to say, 'Thanks but no thanks,' not that anyone has asked me," the 20-year-old revealed his thought on the possibility sometime last week when Geoff Boucher of Los Angeles Times caught up with him in England. "Honestly, I don't think they would want me anyway, it's just too close. Whatever I do next, I don't think there will be any wizards in it!"

The actor who made headlines when he took on the revival of Peter Shaffer's play "Equus" further pointed out that James McAvoy would be perfect for the role. "James McAvoy is fantastic," he praised. "I think he should play it. I've done the fantasy-film thing. Actually, so has he, with the 'Chronicles of Narnia,' of course. But I've done it for longer. He can take over. I'm done. I don't think anybody involved in that would want me to, either."

Earlier, Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex reported Daniel Radcliffe was rumored to be the potential candidate for Bilbo Baggins role along with David Tennant and "Atonement" star James McAvoy. However, soon after the report surfaced, Tennant addressed the rumor saying, "The Internet is a curious place, isn't it? I think someone sits in their bedroom in Saskatchewan and comes up with an idea and they post it."

On another news related to "The Hobbit", MarketSaw claimed that there will actually be three total movies based around J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" instead of two parts as has been reported before. The third one will serve as a bridge film which will be directed by "The Hobbit" producer/writer Peter Jackson himself. Additionally, the blog reported that all three movies will be shot in stereoscopic 3-D.

"The Hobbit" is taken from J.R.R. Tolkien's novel of the same title and is planned to be made into two-part movies. The movies will re-create the scenes of the novel, with additional events that make an impact to "The Lords of the Rings", such as the expulsion of Sauron from Mirkwood by The White Council.

Shooting is expected to start in March 2010 and go on for about 370 days. Hugo Weaving, Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis are all said to reprise their "The Lord of the Rings" roles as Lord Elrond, Gandalf and Gollum respectively in this adventure fantasy. The first movie is scheduled for December 2011 U.S. release, while the second one is expected to hit theaters across the U.S. a year later.
