Confirming that he and rumored girlfriend Demi Lovato have split up, Trace says he won't rule out a reconciliation in the future as he and Demi remain friends.

AceShowbiz - Never confirming publicly that he is dating Demi Lovato, Trace Cyrus exclusively tells People he and the Disney actress-singer have called it quits. Age gap and distance are the two factors that lead them both to end their love relationship.

"Demi is one of my good friends and I definitely became very, very close with her in the past few months, and it's something I really wanted to make work. But unfortunately, we both have very busy schedules - we're both on tour right now," the Metro Station's singer reveals. "I'm always on the other side of the world and so is she, so it just seemed like something that can't work out at this time."

Despite their separation, Trace admits he won't rule out a reconciliation in the future as he and Demi remain friends. "We gave it a shot and that's all you can do. Every time I hung out with that girl or talked on the phone with her, it was amazing. She's someone I can totally relate to," Trace tells People when referring to Demi. "But she is a lot younger than me. When someone is that much younger, you're looking for different things in relationships. Maybe when she's older and we've both matured, we'll be looking for the same thing and it can work out."

Trace Cyrus, who is also known as the brother of Miley Cyrus, was first romantically linked to Demi Lovato earlier this year. Despite mounting rumors that they were dating, neither of the two has ever acknowledged the nature of their relationship.

Late last week, Radar Online ran an exclusive report claiming Trace and Demi had a crush on each other. They were said to have been "hanging out a lot lately." Moreover, they reportedly also exchanged flirty messages on Twitter.
