Director Sam Raimi has given an interesting response when asked about the possibility of vampires making an appearance in the fourth installment of the 'Spider-Man' series.

AceShowbiz - Having been so open about his fascination to vampire villain Morbius from the "Spider-Man" comics, director Sam Raimi has shown an intriguing reaction when asked on the possibility of vampires appearing in "Spider-Man 4". In an interview with FearNet, the filmmaker responded to the question, saying "What? I don't know anything about that."

While he didn't clearly point out the possibility, Raimi went on discussing the appeal of vampires. "I guess they're very appealing. The best of villains have some positive qualities," he gushed. "That is - they can be very sexy and alluring. And the way in which they attack you is very sensual, it's almost something you desire."

"That's why I like the fact that there is a cure against them in some of the lore, like garlic or the cross. That's really interesting, that there is a way to stop them. There's a whole story that can be made with all those elements. So its got some real rules and laws," he continued. "And that you can be turned into one of them is interesting also. Its got a lot of enticing qualities for a storyteller or an audience."

Earlier this year, Raimi has teased on his favorite villain for Spider-Man, telling Empire Magazine, "I like it in the Marvel comics when Spider-Man fights Morbius." He furthermore stated that he thought Morbius is "really cool" since the character is developed as a Nobel Prize-winning biochemist who attempted to cure himself of a rare blood disease and instead transformed himself into supervillain with a vampire-like powers.

"Spider-Man 4" reportedly will be shot back-to-back with "Spider-Man 5". It will see once again the teaming up of director-actor, Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire. Produced by Avi Arad, Grant Curtis and Laura Ziskin, the script will be provided by David Lindsay-Abaire, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright for 2006's Broadway stage production "Rabbit Hole". The superhero movie itself is slated for May 6, 2011 U.S. release.
