Taking it to his blog, 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' director Michael Bay revealed that he may persuade voice actor Frank Welker to fill in the voice of Soundwave.

AceShowbiz - Frank Welker, the actor who voiced Megatron in 1980s animated series of "Transformers", may be lending his voice to another Decepticon in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". With Hugo Weaving on-board the project as Megatron's voice, Welker has been hinted to be filling the voice of Soundwave.

The possibility was put forth by "Revenge of the Fallen" helmer Michael Bay. Posting a message on his Shoot for the Edit forums on Tuesday, March 10, the 44-year-old filmmaker gave his response to Welker's remark about him yet to be approached for the movie, writing of his plan to offer a role for the actor. "I think I'm going to pursue Frank on Soundwave," Bay wrote.

Earlier in an interview with TFW2005, Frank Welker confessed that he has not been approached to do the voice acting for the highly anticipated movie. Asked on any further work with the franchise, either with the movie or another incarnation, he told TFW2005, "Well it is a little too early to be specific but I will say yes and no. No, I have not been approached by the movie folks but yes I am still involved in the franchise...more on that later."

Set a year after the end of the hit 2007 "Transformers", "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" follows Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes as they become the target of attack by Decepticons because of Sam's knowledge about the origins of the Transformers. Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro are returning to the sequel with Isabel Lucas as well as Rainn Wilson joining the cast. It is slated for June 24 U.S. release.
