Sequel to 2008 blockbuster film "The Dark Knight" won't be director Christopher Nolan's next project, it has been unraveled. The two-time Batman movie helmer will instead move on to direct another feature film project he has written entitled "Inception" after his original screenplay is being picked up by Warner Bros. in a whopping seven-figure buy, according to Variety.

Nolan's involvement with this film allegedly pushes back any potential filming for the next Batman film. Nonetheless, Nolan will co-produce the movie which has been described as "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind" with partner Emma Thomas, who is also "The Dark Knight" producer. The 38-year-old filmmaker is reported planning to shoot the sci-fi action film in summer 2009 for a summer 2010 release.

Confirming "Inception" as Nolan's next project was Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov. "Chris Nolan is a visionary filmmaker who continually raises the bar with each movie he makes," he said. "We are thrilled to be collaborating again with him and Emma on this exciting new motion picture."

Ever since "The Dark Knight" blew up in the box office and pulled in nearly a billion dollars following its July 18 release in the U.S., talks of a follow-up movie have been circulating around. Speculations on who will play the possible villains on "Batman 3" have quickly surfaced, naming several A-listers from Johnny Depp to Angelina Jolie.
