Axl Rose Responded to Dr. Pepper's 'Democracy' Challenge

The Guns N' Roses frontman said that he will share the can of soda to Buckethead if indeed 'Chinese Democracy' will be dropped this year.

AceShowbiz - Maybe Dr. Pepper is the one who can convince Axl Rose to finally release the long overdue Guns N' Roses album, "Chinese Democracy". The drink company is offering "everyone in America" except for former members Slash and Buckethead, a free can of the soda should the album does hit the shelves within 2008. Axl has responded to this challenge.

Through a press release Jaxie Alt, director of marketing for Dr Pepper said that the company is "encouraging (ok, begging) Axl Rose to finally release his 17-year-in-the-making belabored masterpiece, Chinese Democracy, in 2008... Dr Pepper supports Axl, and fully understands that sometimes you have to make it through the jungle before you get it right." Pepper also reasoned that they understood the meaning of striving for perfection, taking an example of their own drink which takes "a little patience" to brew the "perfect" mix.

On the band's official site, Axl has written a response to this saying, "We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper with our album "Chinese Democracy," as for us, this came totally out of the blue. If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others, we are unaware of such at this time. And as some of Buckethead's performances are on our album, I'll share my Dr Pepper with him."

The sixth studio album has been worked on since 1994 but has so far never seen the light. Consequently, it had been branded the most expensive album ever recorded, rounding up to $13 million in recording expenses. There have been rive rumors that Geffen will release the album this year, but there's also a buzz that the band prefer to go independent.
