Rapper Eve Explains 'Here I Am' Album Delay
Music

Eve told Entertainment Weekly the album sounds too 'Pharrell Williams' and would like to change some things before relasing it 100 per cent.

Eve would rather have her album 100 per cent true rather than going commercial and releasing it this year. The rapper who has pushed the album's date to 2008 finally gives explanation on why 'Here I Am' is so frequently delayed.

When questioned by Entertainment Weekly, Eve said, "I think what kind of delayed us this time was that I went in and did two records that sound a lot like the Pharrell record - the singing record. I don't think the movement was right and I'd rather put out an album and feel 100 percent connected to it than just to put out an album, especially the way music is right now."

One or two other things that Eve used as consideration to push back the album is the state of music industry lately. "Nowadays, a single could play for weeks and weeks and weeks on the radio," Eve said, "it could be the biggest single, and the album sales don't match up. So, you know, it's a different format, and I don't even think that anybody has the formula to it now."

When asked the new date for her album, Eve won't mention a specific one saying she's "afraid" of giving any. The rapper stopped at confirming it for "some time next year".

'Hear I Am' was originally scheduled for October release. It has spawned two singles, 'Tambourine' and 'Give It to You' feat. Sean Paul, and is said to release 'All Night Long', that got the rapper singing, as the third single.
