Kiefer Sutherland has become the next Hollywood celebrity who gets hit with DUI charge.

The movie actor was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence early Tuesday morning September 25th in Hollywood after failing a field sobriety test.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Sutherland was stopped at the corner of La Cienega and Beverly at 1:35 a.m. for making an illegal U-turn and was then tested over the state's legal blood alcohol limit of .08 percent, which unfortunately showed his blood-alcohol level to be more than twice the legal limit.

LAPD officers immediately arrested Sutherland at the scene and transported him to the Hollywood station. He was released at 5:42 a.m. after posting $25,000 bail. The actor was scheduled to appear in court October 16th later this year.

A misdemeanor DUI count would carry a maximum sentence of one year in jail. However, Sutherland also could face a charge of violating probation considering that he was previously convicted of DUI back in 2004.

Sutherland was sentenced to 60 months' probation, 50 hours of community service and an alcohol-treatment program, stemmed from a September 2004 DUI arrest. Provided proof in March 2005 that he completed the community service and treatment, he in fact would possibly land in jail should he's found guilty in violating his probation.
