MOBO Awarded Jazz Through Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse's winning of Best Female Artist marks the comeback of Jazz genre in the British award.

AceShowbiz - To have Amy Winehouse just turning up is a great enough pleasure at MOBO Awards that was held on Wednesday, September 18. The singer performed two songs 'Tears Dry On Their Own' and 'Me and Mr Jones', and even snatched the Best Female Artist title. Her winning once again put jazz in the list that was initially branded only for "music of black origin".

A showdown between Kanye West and 50 Cent continued in the British event. After beating the other on album sales, the former enjoyed another winning being named Best Hip Hop Act. West also clutched Best Video for 'Stronger', that failed to win anything at MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month despite 6 nominations.

Ne-Yo went home with two awards, Best R&B and Best Song, both for his song 'Because of You'. Meanwhile, Rihanna who has been collecting several statuettes by now, won Best International Act, but unfortunately was not present to receive the award.

50, who canceled his appearance in the event, was later replaced by an act from Craig David and rapper Kano. Shaggy beside serving the duty as the host of the event with Jamelia, also opened the show with a medley of his hits. Former Sugababes, Mutya Buena performed two of her solo hits but failed to grab Best U.K. Newcomer in which she was nominated in.
