John Rambo Gets an Official Release Date
Movie

Lionsgate Films will launch the action flick next year on January 25.

AceShowbiz - The skilled yet troubled Vietnam War veteran finally finds the right date to mark his comeback on the big screen.

Yes, Lionsgate Films has been confirmed to bring "John Rambo" to the theaters nationwide exactly on January 25, 2008 instead of releasing it later this year as learned before. Pic is the fourth chapter of "Rambo" film franchise which is written, directed, and produced by star Sylvester Stallone, who played the titular character in the previous three installments.

Set in Thailand, the movie finds Rambo getting recruited by a group of Christian aid workers to guide them up the Salween River to deliver medical supplies to the Karen tribe of neighboring Burma. Unfortunately, the missionaries fail to return, leading him to take a group of mercenaries back into the war-torn border region to find them.

Stallone initially was set to make "John Rambo" before "Rocky Balboa", but held the plan when the latter title got a green light from MGM. It was not until February 23, 2007 that principal photography on the flick finally began, using locations in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico, among others.
