AceShowbiz -

The cast is complete now as New Line has picked Michelle Pfeiffer to play the "Hairspray" villain, Velma von Tussel, the former Miss Baltimore Crabs beauty queen-turned-bitter Baltimore TV station owner.

Thus, the actress will star in the musical comedy alongside the already onboard star-studded cast, John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Amanda Bynes, Zac Efron and newcomer Nikki Blonsky, who's been set to play lead Tracy Turnblad.

Leslie Dixon wrote the script, while Adam Shankman is directing and Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are producing. The studio, moreover, has planned a September 5th start date with entire shooting takes place in Toronto.

As of the release date of the flick, it has been pushed back to Dec. 21, 2007 with the studio citing its crowded summer 2007 schedule as the reason for the move.
