'We want to reassure all of our audiences that due to the strict processes we have in place at the London Coliseum,' reads the announcement issued on the production's official Twitter account.

AceShowbiz - Officials behind the West End production of musical "Hairspray" have canceled all performances for 10 days after a team member tested positive for COVID-19.

The show at the London Coliseum, which stars Michael Ball and Les Dennis, has been suspended until July 14.

"Unfortunately, despite extremely robust measures being in place, a member within the Hairspray company has sadly tested positive for Covid-19," a statement reads.

"We want to reassure all of our audiences that due to the strict processes we have in place at the London Coliseum, this registered case will not have come into contact with anyone visiting the venue and we are confident that we have adhered to all the required health and safety requirements."

"The safety of our customers remains our number one priority. Everyone at both the London Coliseum and in the Hairspray team are so sorry that this means these performances cannot go ahead."

The matter of refund was also addressed in the statement issued on the production's official social media account. "Full refunds will be offered to all customers who are unable to move their tickets to an alternative performance," it read. "If you booked via a ticket agent/3rd party they will contact you regarding refunds/alternative dates."

The show opened last month (Jun 2021).

It is not the only theater show to be disrupted - London's Royal Court bosses have announced "Seven Methods of Killing Kylie Jenner" will be suspended between July 5 and 11 due to "Covid isolation requirements" after a member of their production team tested positive.
