"Miami Vice," the cop thriller based on the pastel-loving 1980s small-screen hit for NBC, starts shooting

AceShowbiz - Action drama flick "Miami Vice," based on the 1980s small-screen hit for NBC, starts shooting. The film, stars Colin Farrell as Det. James "Sonny" Crockett and Jamie Foxx as Det. Ricardo Tubbs, follows the two characters face a transnational criminal enterprise whose leader and chief financial officer is of Chinese/Cuban origin, played by Gong Li.

"Miami Vice" was filming on the third floor of the Plaza Maria de Toledo hotel in Santo Domingo's colonial district Monday night when the shooting took place. The original version was created by Anthony Yerkovich and executive produced by Michael Mann. It starred Don Johnson as Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as Tubbs.

Apart, on the shooting set there was a shooting incident. It happened when a man, later identified as Mario Torres, approached a soldier standing guard outside. A short noisy argument then occurred and Torres immediately started shooting while the security guard returned fire, hitting Torres once in the side. No word on Torres condition, but the incident surely doesn't affect the film's shooting.
