Carly Rae Jepsen

Around three years after stealing the spotlight with her breakout single "Call Me Maybe" and then releasing its parent album "Kiss", Carly Rae Jepsen is coming back with "E.MO.TION". The new LP has been available everywhere in Japan since June, but it is finally arriving in the U.S. on August 21.

"E.MO.TION", marking Jepsen's third studio installment, is led by the single "I Really Like You" which is arguably the most straightforward pop tune on the record. The upbeat and highly-danceable track was released back in March and peaked at No. 39 on Billboard Hot 100.

It failed to match the success of "Call Me Maybe", which reached No. 1 on the chart. However, scoring another high-charting single is never Jepsen's main goal with her upcoming album.

" 'Call Me Maybe' was such a gift, but I don't need that to happen again," she said in a new interview with Billboard. "I wanted to be brave and [record] music that was really me rather than just putting out what I thought would sell. I would've regretted more not doing what I did - making a passion project come to life."

Her manager Scooter Braun agreed. He explained, "We had the biggest-selling single in the entire world last time, and it didn't drive the album as much as it should have. So this [time it's] about the album, and how good it is - that's the most important thing in the world."
