Emerging from the sun-drenched suburbs of Orange County, California, Something Corporate carved a distinct niche in the early 2000s rock scene with their piano-driven anthems and emotionally resonant songwriting. Formed in 1998 in Laguna Niguel, the band, often affectionately called SoCo by fans, became known for blending pop-punk energy with the melodic sophistication of a piano at its core, led by the dynamic vocals and playing of Andrew McMahon. Their rise from local demos to major label success, followed by a hiatus and subsequent reunion, cemented their status as a beloved act whose influence extended well beyond their initial run.

The core lineup solidified with Andrew McMahon on vocals and piano, guitarists Josh Partington and William Tell, bassist Kevin Page, and drummer Brian Ireland. Their independent album "Ready... Break" showcased their early sound, leading to a deal with Drive-Thru Records and the release of the "Audioboxer" EP. Their breakthrough arrived with the 2002 major-label debut "Leaving Through the Window," which premiered at number one on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. Fueled by the energetic single "If You C Jordan," which peaked at number 29 on the Alternative Songs chart, the album connected with a generation, establishing their signature blend of angst and optimism.

Following their sophomore album, "North," in 2003, the band entered an indefinite hiatus in 2004. During this period, Andrew McMahon found significant success with his acclaimed side project, Jack's Mannequin. Something Corporate briefly reunited for a surprise set at a Jack's Mannequin show in 2006, fueling fan hopes. Those hopes were realized in December 2009 when the band officially announced a reunion tour for 2010, accompanied by a greatest hits compilation. Andrew McMahon later revealed the band had collectively sold over one million records.

After sporadic shows, including a surprise 40th birthday concert for Andrew McMahon in 2022, Something Corporate embarked on a more active reunion phase. The core lineup performed at the massive When We Were Young Festival in 2023, hosted a New Year's Eve run in Anaheim, and continues to tour, including scheduled dates for summer 2024 and a performance on the Andrew McMahon's Holiday from Real Cruise in November 2024. This renewed activity affirms the enduring appeal of their catalog and their lasting place in the alternative rock landscape.
