Heidi Newfield Biography

Leaving her successful singing group, Trick Pony, was probably not an easy decision for Heidi Newfield, but her courage to spread wings wider had been stronger than she thought. It was eventually worth it, for not only was she able to get out of the circle as far as her creativity requires her to, but she also earned an acknowledgment as a solo artist who can write her own songs. "Johnny and June" the song that leads her debut solo album has peaked at #18 on U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and #68 on Billboard Hot 100. Her album "What Am I Waiting For" has gained even a better chart position. It entered the Hot 200 chart at #10 and #2 on Hot Country Albums.

All Heidi knew when she was a little was the fact that she liked microphone so much. Born in a farm house in Healdsburg, California on October 4, 1970, she has felt really lucky to be in the middle of a very supporting family. Heidi was introduced to the wonderful world of music at the early age of five and was constantly encouraged by her parents to explore her singing talent. She listened a lot to Ernest Tubb, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, but growing up in the late '70s also contributed in her listening to the hard rock trend coming from The Rolling Stone, AC/DC and Aerosmith. At the age of 13, she developed love for country music and frequently made a trip to Nashville to attend talent search events. "We didn't know what we were doing, and we certainly didn't have the money to be running me all over back and forth between Nashville, but they did their very best to try to support me," she recalled.
