'Smash' and 'The Amazing Race' Among GLAAD Award Winners
March 18, 2013 08:03:09The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation announced some of the winners of its 24th annual Media Awards in New York on Saturday, March 16. Hosted by "Good Morning America" anchors Lara Spencer, Josh Elliott and Sam Champion, the event saw "Smash" and "The Amazing Race" as the winners in TV field.
The struggling NBC show, which stars Katharine McPhee and Debra Messing, nabbed the Outstanding Drama Series title, beating out the likes of "True Blood" and "Grey's Anatomy". The CBS long-running competition series was hailed as Outstanding Reality Program. It edged out "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" and "The Real L Word" among other contenders.

NBC Moves 'Smash' to Saturdays, Announces Other Schedule Changes
March 14, 2013 09:03:29NBC has made some adjustments to its schedule. The network moves "Smash", which has been struggling in ratings since entering its second season, from Tuesdays to Saturdays at 9 P.M. starting April 6. The show will air all remaining episodes.
To fill in the Tuesday slot, new dating series "Ready for Love" which is executive produced by Eva Longoria will air in a two-hour block at 9 P.M. starting April 9. It follows "The Voice" which will premiere the fourth season on March 25.

'Smash' Season 2 Premiere Ratings Take Big Plunge
February 07, 2013 09:02:28"Smash" takes a deep ratings dive in its return. The two-hour premiere of the second season on Tuesday, February 5 only drew 4.5 million viewers and a 1.1 rating in the adults 18-49 demo.
It was down 71% from the first season opener, which landed the post-Super Bowl spot. While it would be unfair to compare the season 2 premiere to the 2012 debut boosted by the NFL game, the recent outing also showed a significant 40% drop from the first season finale.

"Thank God for 'Glee,' because they really opened doors for our show, specifically, to make it possible for us to do this," so says the former Glinda depicter on Broadway play "Wicked". "They made it socially acceptable and even cool to love the arts, and hopefully our show will do the same, but they really were the people who started that and busted down those doors, so thank God for that."
