"" is refreshed with the arrival of a new captain in the ninth season. Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, known for her recurring role as Anne Cassidy on "" will join the show as the successor of Captain Danny Ross who is leaving after three years in his position. There is no name of the character yet.

Shift in the captain position has been taking place since James Deakins headed the Major Case Squad division and was replaced by Ross in 2006. The casting of Mastrantonio marks the first time a woman is assigned as the captain.

A killer goes out for a murder rampage in the name of God with the intention to send the victims to heaven. Detective Robert Goren assisted by Detective Alexandra Eames must solve the riddles before the murders go to any further length.

To be aired on Sunday, June 21, the "" episode has released a clip where Goren is analyzing the crime scene. In the kitchen, a man is found lying on a pool of blood with money scattered around. Goren reckons that he came home from work and got struck from the left upon entering the kitchen.

Before the actual episode hits the screen on Sunday, June 14, USA Network has given a clip of "" 8.08. Titled "The Glory That Was", it follows the murder of a foreign diplomat who leads a double life of adultery with an unexpected twist.

In the clip both Nichols and Wheeler interviewed the husband of the diplomat who keeps referring the victim as "my wife" instead of mentioning her name. Soon, Nichols and Wheeler find themselves on the world stage, untangling the dark politics behind the Olympic Site Selection Committee.
