Candace has been staying above the bar while she figures out some stuff, and she's found herself a new roommate... a stray dog! The gang immediately falls in love with him, but Justin is reluctant to have a dog living at the bar. Good thing he's a sucker, because after 10 seconds of Mo (named for the Motor City) giving him puppy dog eyes, he caves. Mo can stay!

The only issue is that the animal shelter won't let Candace adopt the dog without an interview - and she is not remotely qualified to have a pet. Luckily Brett is the self-proclaimed greatest liar in the world and is more than happy to teach Candace his craft. After vigorous lying classes, Candace is ready to throw away everything she believes in for a dog. But this doesn't sit well with Leslie, who berates Brett for ruining such an angelic, sweet girl. Feeling guilty, Brett has a heart-to-heart with Candace and warns her that once you start lying, it's hard to stop; that's how he ended up the way he is. Luckily, Candace has some dirtbag friends who are already too far-gone to be saved, namely Leslie and Burski, who posed as a married couple to adopt Mo for Candace. Win-win!

Back at the apartment, Justin has let his and Danny's gross neighbor Kevin shower at their place because his water was shut off, and even lent him his jacket. Danny is tired of Justin letting people take advantage of him. But Justin sees the good in everyone, and nothing Danny says is going to change that... until Danny tells him he's been overcharging him for rent. In the process of telling Justin he doesn't respect him, Danny accidentally slices Justin's finger, prompting Candace to call 911 - there's been a stabbing! Justin goes to the hospital to get stitches, and when he returns, the cops come by to follow up on the stabbing incident. After being repeatedly berated by Danny for never standing up for himself, Justin decides it's time for a little revenge, Instead of explaining that he was stabbed in the finger, he points said finger at Danny, who is cuffed and carted off to jail, all the while screaming that he's too pretty for the clink.

That night, when Danny is released from prison, Justin immediately apologizes, much to Danny's annoyance. He wants Justin to stop seeing the good in people because most of the time it's just not there. And he's never going to get that jacket back from Kevin. When Justin leaves to prove Danny wrong and get his jacket back, Leslie tells Danny off for trying to change Justin. Just like Candace, he is wonderful and sweet, and the gang loves him just the way he is. Justin soon returns with the jacket... okay, so he bought a new one, and Danny apologizes, promising to never try to change Justin again. Yeah, right...
