School Pride Episode 1.03 Rising from the Flood

This week's school is Kingston Springs Elementary in Nashville Tennessee. Wyatt and Liam are here to tell us about their school's challenging situation in the aftermath of devastating floods.

Floods soaked the school, destroying countless supplies and polluting the campus. It's going to take a miracle to get Kingston running again. It's going to take the School Pride team!

The School Pride team sees an entire community devastated by floods but is determined to remain optimistic. Tom and his team deliver the good news: it's time to renovate Kingston in only seven days!

Before the School Pride team could even get started, a crew needed to clean out all the debris left from the floods. Eighty 30-yard dumpsters could barely contain all of the refuse.

Wyatt and Liam are saddened to see their beloved school so empty and desolate. Meanwhile kindergarten teacher Ms. Candy tells Whitley about her scary experience during the torrential downpour. Ms. Candy had to climb onto the roof to avoid drowning!

For the first time since Kingston's been condemned, Ms. Olszak sees her barren, destroyed room. She fights back tears as she recalls all of the supplies she has lost. Meanwhile, Tom delegates jobs. He'll fix the library; Susie will focus on the computer room; Jacob wants to fix Ms. Olszak's room; and Whitley will renovate Mrs. Turner's room.

Volunteers arrive to help the School Pride team. Ms. Candy's overwhelmed by the support; many of these same volunteers lost their homes in the flood! Across campus, Susie and Liam repaint a classroom. Liam tells Susie that he lost his beloved book bag during the flood.

Susie tells the students that Walmart is donating tons of free school supplies and clothing to the Kingston kids! The children pick through bins full of donated gifts! Now Liam can replace his lost book bag!

Ms. Olszak explains to Jacob that it's very painful for her to see Kingston in this condition. She says that not one thing was salvaged from her room. She admits that she's lost all hope. Jacob makes Ms. Olszak promise that she'll be at Kingston for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Jacob interviews Amy and Katie, the owners of the Red Tree Coffee Shop. Since Red Tree was one of the few places that had power during the flood, Amy and Katie were able to help hundreds of people in need. A former Kingston teacher, Katie hopes that the school will be back in tiptop shape. It's clear that Kingston is the heart of the community.

Tom fixes a damaged ceiling while Wyatt explains that some of his teachers - including Ms. Shelton and Ms. Plemons - lost their homes in the flood. Tom is amazed that these teachers have lost everything and yet are still volunteering at Kingston. Tom and Home Depot surprise each of these generous, deserving teachers with Home Depot gift cards worth $5,000!

It's day five and Whitley's boosting morale by giving volunteers "smiley faces" drawn onto their thumbs. Whitley learned the trick from the beloved Ms. Candy, a former cheerleader who can still do the splits!

Using Crayola Story Studio, Jacob and Ms. Olszak's students help decorate her room with cartoon caricatures of themselves. They can't return Ms. Olszak's damaged things, but they can sure help give her some new memories!

Tom surprises the hardworking students with a trap to Nashville Shores Waterpark! When the children return, they'll have a brand new school!

Tom thinks outside the box and has the high school football team transport over 10,000 books into the Kingston library!

It's the night before the big reveal and Ms. Candy's husband and eight kids have come by to help Whitley renovate! Whitley's painted a beautiful map on Ms. Candy's wall.

After Wyatt and Liam cut the ribbon, everyone rushes in to see newly renovated Kingston Elementary! Check out the beautiful cafeteria!

The gorgeous library now contains over 10,000 books!

Susie updates Kingston with a state-of-the-art Microsoft computer lab!

Ms. Candy's colorful classroom now reflects her optimistic, playful personality.

Jacob shows Ms. Olszak that she's got nothing to mourn anymore; her new classroom is perfectly decorated with cartoon drawings of her students on the walls.

With the support of her kids and a gorgeous classroom, Ms. Olszak's ready to make some new memories at Kingston.
