Rex manages to escape and flies up through the tunnels to hide in the ventilation system. He watches as Leek leads the captured team into a completely refurbished part of the complex where they discover a sabre tooth, giant scorpions, and even a raptor kept alive in the cages. But even this pales with a brand new revelation. Caroline is also present, and Abby turns on her bitterly. She demands to know where Rex is, but the uneasy Caroline tells her he has probably already been eaten alive by now. Abby is distraught and furious.

Cutter wants to understand why Leek is doing all this, but Leek tells him there is someone else who can explain things more clearly - and Helen appears. Stephen has gone over to her side - he thinks they will be leaving soon to travel through the anomalies together. The rest of the team are dismayed.

Leek isn't interested in explanations. He throws the team in a spare cage next to the raptor and forces them to watch as he demonstrates the destructive capacity of the future predator by having it fight a sabre tooth cat, which it rips to pieces. Leek says this is a terrible vision of the future - animal against animal, human against predator. Helen says nothing; Cutter begs Stephen not to trust Helen or Leek, but the troubled Stephen says it is too late....
