Bob flew to Greenville, South Carolina to surprise husband and wife Phil an Amy, and tell them they were coming with him to L.A. to be on The Biggest Loser. They were in shock and so excited.

Jillian went to Boston, Massachusetts to join up with father and son Tom and Tom, Jr. Jillian's main hope was to get Tom and his son in good shape, so they could head back to Boston and change the eating lifestyles of the rest of their family.

Bob surprised newlyweds Ed and Heba by sending a video to their Raleigh, North Carolina home with news that they were going to be on The Biggest Loser. Bob's goal was to help them have a long and happy marriage.

Jillian placed a call to the mother and daughter team of Shellay and Amy in Detroit, Michigan. At first, Shellay couldn't believe Jillian was actually calling her, but Jillian had loved what she'd seen of Shellay and Amy's relationship and wanted them to be on this season of the show.

Bob traveled to Huama, Louisiana to visit the all-American Vicky and Brady. Bob surprised them behind a donut counter to tell them they were his new brown team. Vicky couldn't wait to start getting healthy for her children.

Jillian was now traveling to Dallas, Texas to pick up a mother and daughter team who had been estranged for six years. Renee left her daughter when she divorced Michelle's father. Michelle then turned to food. They were ready to start over in the relationship. Jillian surprised them in church to tell them they were the new pink team.

Bob traveled to the nation's capital to meet up with Adam and Stacey. Not only were they married, but they also work together. Bob knew these two would be a forced to be reckoned with. Bob surprised them at work and was greeted with a giant hug from Stacey.

Jillian was now in Cleveland, Ohio to pick up her final team, father-and-daughter duo Jerry and Coleen. Jerry was a police officer and wanted to get in better shape for his daughter and be a role model to her. The father and daughter were surprised when Jillian showed up at the station in a police car to tell them they were headed back to California to be on her yellow team.

The teams arrived at the new gym and were all shocked with how big it was. Reality started to set in. Ali pointed out that the gym was twice as big, but would be divided up between husbands and wives and parents and children.

Reality set in quickly for the teams as the weigh-in began. Every player was devastated by how much they weighed and realized they needed help. Heba was in tears to see she was the heaviest woman. Tom and his son, Tom, Jr. -- who asked to go by L.T. for Little Tom -- were the heaviest team on the ranch, weighing in at 671 pounds.

The trainers were working their teams out to the max. Jillian was on a rampage and gave her teams two choices: deal with a tough Jillian, or a tough Jillian who was mad. She had a moment to talk to Michelle and told Michelle she truly believed she wanted to win it all.

Jillian kept a close eye on Jerry because he kept putting his hands on the treadmill while walking. Finally, he gave up and fell to the floor. He stepped outside and kept apologizing to Jillian for giving up. Jillian said she didn't want a sorry; she wanted to see a change. Dr. H later told Jillian that because of Jerry's poor health, he could only work out for 30 minutes at a time. That meant he'd have to fight to stay on the ranch.

The teams all met up with Ali to start their new challenge. Planes flew overhead, each carrying a sign stating what the teams could win during their challenge. Once the signs were dropped, the teams had to hike one mile to the sign they wanted and when both team members reached that sign, they could grab it. Tom and Jerry had to sit the challenge out because of medical reasons.

Shellay was surprised at how difficult the challenge was. The heat was beating down on the teams as they climbed the hill with their partners. Meanwhile, Vicky wanted to give up altogether, but she was being pushed to continue by her husband.

Coleen was the first to the top of the hill and frantically searched for the "Immunity" sign. She found it, lifted it up high, and knew the challenge had been worth it. Stacey and Adam got the "Luxury" sign, Ed and Heba got the "$5,000" sign, L.T. won the "Extra Vote," Renee and Michelle won "Phone Call Home," and finally Phil and Amy retrieved the "Visit Home" sign.

Now it was down to Shellay, Amy, Brady and Vicky -- who would be the last to get up the hill? Shellay and Amy reached the top and managed to score the sign that granted them a full workout alone with their trainer. Brady and Vicky were sad to come in last, but Brady said it would just push them harder next time. They also got a two-pound add for the weigh-in.

Dr. H took each team individually into a room to discuss their health. He had used a computer device to show each team member how old they are according to their health. The contestants were shocked to learn how out of shape they were. Dr. H showed them their real ages, and then the much-older ages that were based on the state of their health.

Next was the contestants' first taste of a last-chance workout. Bob and Jillian were there to make sure they felt it. Brady and Vicky were getting a little tired of some of the cockiness from the other teams. But, Brady added that it made them work that much harder.

It was time for the teams to get their first weigh-in. Everyone was moved to tears by how much weight they'd lost during their first week at the ranch. Vicky and Brady were very nervous about what the scale would reveal. They were in shock to discover they'd lost a total of 47 pounds and were moved to first place in the weigh-in.

After the weigh-in, the brown team and the green team fell below the yellow line. Now the other teams had the tough decision of having to decide who should be the first eliminated. After all the votes were counted, Stacey and Adam's green team found out that they would be the first two to be eliminated. They wished all the other teams luck on the game and Ali reminded them that their weight-loss journey was just beginning.
