The contestants meet Alison for this week's Ring of Fire Challenge. Before the challenge begins, Alison informs the contestants that the competition is moving to singles. Once they've received their individual jerseys, the competition begins. The contestants must hold a 20-foot metal rod in a ring of fire as long as they can. The bar weighs 20% of the contestant's weight, and they're competing for a one-pound advantage. It's a respectable prize, and all of the contestants are eager for a big win.

The competition proves to be a difficult test of endurance. Tanya is the first to fall, and Tumi crumbles shortly after. After 20 minutes of endurance, Jennifer drops her bar. After 30 minutes, Hap accidentally drops his bar, leaving six contestants remaining. In the end, it comes down to Rachel and Jay. After over 90 minutes, Jay drops his bar, and Rachel wins a one-pound advantage in this week's weigh-in. After the challenge, Alison informs the contestants that this week's weigh-in will have a double red line, meaning two contestants will be eliminated.

The next day, the contestants head to the gym to meet with the trainers. Since the competition has moved to singles, the trainers have the opportunity to work with contestants from other teams. Dolvett works with Hap and Matt, who are eager to prove themselves to a new trainer. Bob is particularly excited to work with Rachel, Jay and Jennifer. Jillian is merciless with David and Tumi in the gym, but they crave Jillian's determination and ruthlessness.

Jillian takes David aside to remind him of how far he's come. Bob meets with Jennifer, who is disappointed in her performance during the day's workout session. Bob reminds her that, when her feelings of doubt swell up, it's the perfect opportunity for her to confront them head-on. Psychology is more than half the battle on the ranch, and today was a painful but necessary reminder for David and Jennifer.

After their workouts, David and Jay approach Rachel with a proposition: they're a little frustrated that Rachel beat them in the Ring of Fire Challenge, so they challenge the nationally-ranked swimmer to a swimming contest. The prize is breakfast in bed, and Rachel accepts the challenge. Unbeknownst to her, David and Jay beat Rachel into the pool. She may be fast, but Rachel can't catch the boys in the pool, so she'll have to bring them a Subway breakfast in bed.

Before the contestants know it, it's time for this week's Last-Chance Workout. With a double red line looming, there's no room for laziness or apathy. The contestants are pushing themselves harder than ever. With their toughest Last-Chance Workout behind them, the contestants prepare for the weigh-in.

A double red line means that two players will be eliminated tonight. Rachel hits the scale first to record a four-pound loss (plus a one-pound advantage, thanks to her win in the challenge). Chelsea drops four pounds; Jay sheds five pounds (dropping him below the 200-pound mark); Marie ditches five pounds; Tumi loses nine pounds; David dumps 12 pounds; Tanya drops seven pounds; Hap gets rid of five pounds; Jennifer loses five pounds (taking her below the 200-pound mark); and Matt says goodbye to five pounds.

Because of this week's double red line, both Hap and Matt are headed home. It's been a long journey for both contestants, and the trainers have no doubts that Hap and Matt will continue to work hard to change their lives for the better. The night is not over yet, though! Alison calls in every eliminated contestant from the season thus far. They all have a chance to return to the competition when The Biggest Loser returns!
