The Amazing Race Episode 14.06 Alright Guys, We're at War!

The chaos and confusion of Jaipur, India proved no match for lawyer siblings Tammy & Victor, who cruised to their second victory of the race. Meanwhile, a slow taxi and the Speed Bump task hampered flight attendants Christie & Jodi who were the fifth team eliminated.

WARMING UP

Departing the Pit Stop in first place at 12:18am, mother and son Margie & Luke ripped open their clue instructing them to leave the freezing Siberian climate and fly nearly 2,000 miles to the heat of Jaipur, India. This capital of Rajastan was dressed in pink for royal visitors in 1876, and today it is known as The Pink City. Once in Jaipur, teams had to race by taxi to the remote outskirts of Dhula Village to find the sacred Peepli Ka Pedh tree.

All seven teams shared the same connecting flight from New Delhi to Jaipur, landing in the Pink City just as the sun began to rise. Sibling lawyers Tammy & Victor took an early lead out of the airport followed by flight attendants Christie & Jodi, who needed to pull ahead because they faced a Speed Bump somewhere in the leg since they came in last place on the prior leg. The normally calm and free spirited Mel & Mike showed signs of stress when the taxi driver they chose didn't appear to know where to drive. The pair wanted to take their bags out of the trunk and select another taxi, but their driver disappeared, leaving their packs locked in the trunk. Now, squarely in last place, Mel & Mike waited until their driver returned with directions to the tree. An anxious Mel shouted, "Go! Go! Please! We have to catch all those other teams!"

The strong start of the flight attendants quickly deteriorated when their taxi driver stopped to refuel his car. A discouraged Christie commented, "It's very frustrating 'cause you're just at their mercy." Jodi quipped, "Do they not have a hurry button?"

TAKING IT IN

On the ride to Dhula Village, teams had strong reactions to the sights and sounds of Indian culture. Brothers Mark & Michael laughed at the "insane" driving as their taxi weaved in and out of traffic, while Jaime marveled at the monkeys that jumped across the rooftops of the neighborhoods. However, the mood became more somber when teams passed through the impoverished areas outside of Jaipur. Mark & Michael "noticed fires in the street and children running around naked." The stray dogs, cows, and goats wandering the streets without food brought tears to Jaime's eyes. Luke began to sob as he witnessed children eating garbage, while his mother Margie tried to comfort him. Margie noted, "It makes us realize how lucky we are."

LAWYERS LEAD

Arriving at the Peepli Ka Pedh tree in first place, sibling lawyers Tammy & Victor discovered two red phones with instructions to call one of four phone numbers for their next clue. When the pair couldn't understand the voice on the phone, they enlisted the help of their taxi driver, Babu, who told them they would now be heading to Amber Fort.

The other teams initially wandered under the Peepli Ka Pedh tree searching for a clue and not realizing they needed to use the phone, extending Tammy & Victor's lead as they arrived at Amber Fort to find a Roadblock. In it, one team member had to choose a group of camels and, using a set of traditional tools, load and carry enough food and water to satisfy each of the camels in their group. Once the pile of food reached the designated line and the water spilled through a hole the trough, teams would receive their next clue.

Victor ran over to a colorfully decorated camel herd and grabbed the smaller metal bucket meant for carrying water in order to haul the feed. At the massive pile of feed, Victor saw the larger baskets and rakes and switched tools immediately. Using the proper tools, Victor quickly transported enough feed to cover the designated line before the other teams arrived. Tammy joked, "I thought my dad would be so excited when he sees that Victor has to shovel camel feed. He thinks that Victor and I have led such a privileged life."

BRAIN POWER

As Victor began to transport water with the metal pail, the other six teams arrived at Amber Fort in a caravan of taxis. Seeing Victor hauling the water in the metal bucket, the other racers all picked up their metal buckets and began hauling water too. Kisha remarked, "I've never had to take care of livestock ever. I've never even had a pet." As Margie, Mel, and Jaime struggled to carry the heavy buckets of water to their respective troughs, Victor filled his trough to the brim and opened the next clue instructing him and Tammy to travel to Johri Bazar and find a Rajasthani puppet store at shop number 131.

The physical strain of transporting feed and water took its toll on the oldest person in the race, Mel. His son, Mike stood on the side worrying about his dad, saying, "I can see my dad struggling, and it's not fun. It's not a pretty picture." Later, he added, "I just couldn't even watch. I knew that we'd be there at least a half an hour after everybody else." However, with age comes wisdom, as Mel first noticed the baskets to transport feed, while everyone else continued to use the smaller metal buckets. This move vaulted Mel from nearly last place into second when he and Mike left the fort. A thrilled Mike complimented his father's success, saying, "Dad, you did awesome!" Eventually, the other racers noticed the baskets and switched over as well to complete the task. Flight attendants Christie & Jodi still remained in last place, but they now made up ground on brothers Mark & Michael who left the fort in sixth place.

SHAKE IT UP

Arriving at the puppet store in first place, sibling lawyers Tammy & Victor found a Detour with the choice of Movers and Shakers. In Movers, teams had to travel to the Sanganeri Gate, where they needed to choose a cycle rickshaw loaded high with barrels. Then, they had to transport the barrels by pedaling one and a half miles through the congested streets of Jaipur to Zorawar Singh Gate, and search through their containers for a small metal elephant that they could exchange for their next clue. In Shakers, teams had to travel to a nearby busy intersection, put on traditional costumes and makeup, and join a Rajasthani dance troop. Then, they had to go out in the streets and shake their hips for tips. After earning 100 rupees, they would receive their next clue.

After dressing up in colorful costumes, and applying bright makeup on their faces, Tammy & Victor took to the streets with their Rajasthani band and danced their hearts out for cold hard cash. Victor later commented, "Before doing this race I could never imagine myself putting on makeup in the middle of a city street and dancing and begging for money." The duo was a smashing success as they quickly amassed the 100 rupees needed to earn their next clue. Opening it, the lawyers discovered they needed to travel to the next Pit Stop at Jaigur Fort, a 15th century fortress.

The siblings and lawyers arrived at Jaigur Fort having spent the day far ahead of the other teams, and claimed first. For their efforts, Phil awarded the pair with two ocean kayaks. On their smooth sailing this leg Victor commented, "Tammy and I have recovered really well since our travesty in Romania. I think we understand each other a little bit better."

Father and son Mel & Mike, former NFL cheerleaders Jaime & Cara, sisters Kisha & Jen, and mother and son Margie & Luke all chose to dance in the streets for money. On the unique experience, Mike commented, "There's such poverty, but then there's also such festivity. The people were so generous." Being deaf, Luke had a greater challenge dancing and asking for money. He remarked, "My ears are broken, so I had to use my eyes more. I read people's faces, see how they act."

COMING BACK

Still trailing the other teams, flight attendants Christie & Jodi began their Speed Bump task, an Indian tradition of using colored paint to decorate a waiting elephant for an upcoming festival. As the pair painted the elephant's trunk in vibrant colors, Jodi thought her daughter would be proud of her. She remarked, "I miss my daughter tremendously and I want her to know that anything she wants to do in life, she can do it. You just find a way to make it happen." After the duo completed decorating the elephant, they returned to the puppet store hoping to still catch at least one other team.

After Mel & Mike claimed second place, Jaime & Cara, Margie & Luke, and Kisha & Jen all finished dancing within moments of each other. Jaime's now familiar temper flared when she couldn't find her and Cara's taxi driver. Jaime ranted, "Where did he go? Sightseeing? Having a cup of coffee?" Ultimately, the driver returned to the former cheerleaders who finished the day in fifth place after losing a footrace to third place Kisha & Jen and fourth place Margie & Luke.

FINAL SHOWDOWN

Brothers Mark & Michael opted to bicycle through the congested streets of Jaipur in rickshaws loaded with barrels that towered above them. When they arrived at the Zorawar Singh Gate, they unloaded the massive barrels and began sifting through the straw inside the barrels for the small metal elephant. Having no luck, the brothers continued searching as last place flight attendants Christie & Jodi verged on having the 100 rupees needed to complete the other side of the Detour. The diminutive brothers looked through barrel after barrel to no avail while Christie & Jodi earned the remainder of the 100 rupees and got into a taxi heading for the Pit Stop. Finally, Michael found the small elephant and the two stuntmen got into their taxi with the threat of elimination looming over them. A taxi race through the crowded streets of Jaipur would determine the fate of the two teams.

After battling back from a slow start and overcoming a Speed Bump, in the end the flight attendants fell short as they stepped onto the mat in last place. Phil informed the disappointed pair that they had been eliminated from the race. A thoughtful Jodi summed up the experience for her team, saying, "I don't think it was ever really about the money. When it comes down to it the experience is priceless. You couldn't pay a million dollars and have the same experience. It's just this weird thing that has a huge effect on your life and changes it and we're better friends for having gone through this together."

1406 ROUTE MARKERS

Roadblock: A Roadblock is a task that only one person can perform. In this Roadblock, that team member had to had to choose a group of camels and, using a set of traditional tools, load and carry enough food and water to satisfy each of the camels in the group. Speed Bump: Having been spared elimination in the last leg, Christie & Jodi have now been hit with a Speed Bump, a task that only they have to complete. In this Speed Bump, they had to perform an Indian tradition of using colored paint to decorate a waiting elephant for an upcoming festival.
