The former 'Real Housewives of Potomac' star is adding mother to her resume as she is expecting her first child with husband Chris Bassett following IVF journey.

AceShowbiz - "The Real Housewives of Potomac" alum Candiace Dillard Bassett has announced that she is pregnant with her first child with husband Chris Bassett.

The 37-year-old reality star told Entertainment Tonight that she is 13 weeks along and is just entering her second trimester. "It's been weird, but also really wonderful, I think, to keep it kind of to ourselves to this point," she said.

Candiace and Chris, 46, conceived their baby through in vitro fertilization (IVF), using one of the embryos they froze two years ago. "I think we were both kind of content to have them just sit there until my 'cut-off date,' " Candiace said, referring to Chris' deadline for having children before he turned 50.

However, Candiace said she "got the itch" as Chris approached his mid-40s. "I kind of woke up and realized that I was never going to be 100 percent ready," she explained. "I just had to... trust the process and trust my doctors and stop being afraid and just do it."

Candiace underwent implantation in January and discovered she was pregnant two weeks later. "To do the shots in your stomach, I had to do the shots in my bum bum every day - which was not always fun - and to finally have it all pay off was amazing," she said.

The couple has yet to find out the sex of their baby. "We have one male embryo and one female embryo," Chris said. "We did all the tests... and I was like, listen, let's just take the highest graded egg and we'll put it in there, and this is the one surprise of this whole experience, that we don't know yet."

While this will be Candiace's first child, Chris has three children from a previous relationship. He said he wants to be supportive of Candiace throughout her pregnancy and parenting journey, acknowledging that this is a new experience for her.

Candiace expressed her excitement for the future, saying, "I'm excited to just support them... in whatever they want to do." However, she also admitted to some fears about math homework and the future.

The couple's baby is due this fall. They have not yet decided if they will add another child to their brood after welcoming their first. "We do have another embryo in the freezer," Candiace said. "I'm just kind of taking it day by day."
