The Emmy-winning entertainer faces backlash after opening up about his relationship with his white boyfriend during a live stand-up moment on HBO's 'Jerrod Carmichael's Reality Show'.

AceShowbiz - Jerrod Carmichael's sexual kink may not be for everyone. The comedian faced backlash after delivering a joke about doing a slave play with his white boyfriend.

During a live stand-up moment on HBO's "Jerrod Carmichael's Reality Show", Jerrod opened up about his relationship. "I sometimes joke to him that our relationship is like that of a slave and a master's son - who, like, teaches me how to read by candlelight," the comedian told the crowd.

In response to the joke, the audience could be heard groaning and hissing. The cold responses, however, didn't stop the Emmy-winning entertainer as he continued, "Yeah, he groans too 'cause he's a good person."

"He doesn't like that f**king joke. I like that joke. That's my burden, I think that s**t's hilarious!" he added.

After the video went viral, the backlash was immediate with many Internet users accusing Jerrod, who came out as gay in 2022, of "self-hating." One of them added on X, formerly known as Twitter, "The fact that he has a platform to spew this mess makes him a danger to the Black Queer community."

"Keep Jerrod Carmichael off my BLACK and PROUD timeline for all eternity. Thank u," someone else said. "If I were into race play, I'd never be the slave. I'd be whipping white b****es and calling it reparations. How you still the slave in YOUR fantasy?" another added.

"He's just a lot. Im happy he can live in his truth, but he need to start lying idk," one other commented. "So serious this Jerrod Carmichael show is so cringe to watch," another tweet read.

Another viewer, meanwhile, opined, "I don't like Jerrod Carmichael simply because I can't stand a black person that acts like they don't know how to read the room. We too skilled at that as a people to to be playing into that kind of bulls**t. NEXT CALLER."
