Director Patty Jenkins is now focusing on writing the script for her galaxy far far away project after her DC superhero movie is shelved by Warner Bros.

AceShowbiz - Patty Jenkins, director of the "Wonder Woman" films, has revealed that her upcoming "Star Wars" movie, "Rogue Squadron", is back in development.

Jenkins initially left "Star Wars" to direct "Wonder Woman 3", but the project was canceled after Warner Bros. passed on her treatment. This freed her up to return to "Rogue Squadron", which had been put on hold while she worked on "Wonder Woman 3."

"When I left 'Star Wars' to do 'Wonder Woman 3,'...we started a deal for [me] to come back to 'Star Wars' after 'Wonder Woman 3,' " Jenkins said on the "Talking Pictures" podcast. "When 'Wonder Woman 3' then went away, Lucasfilm and I were like, 'Oh, we've got to finish this deal.' "

Jenkins emphasized that "Rogue Squadron" is not officially confirmed yet, but she is currently writing a script for the film.

"They have a hard job in front of them of, 'What's the first movie they're going to do?' " Jenkins said of Lucasfilm. "They have other directors who have been working, but I am now back on doing 'Rogue Squadron.' We'll see what happens. We need to get it to where we're both super happy with it."

Originally announced in 2020, "Rogue Squadron" is set to follow a new generation of "Star Wars" pilots in a high-speed thrill ride. Jenkins expressed her enthusiasm for the project, saying, "The emotion of 'Star Wars' and what it stands for is something so beautiful in this world... If I can do something beautiful and do something that serves that audience, I would love to do it."

Despite the setback with "Wonder Woman 3", Jenkins remains a highly regarded director in Hollywood, renowned for her work on the "Wonder Woman" franchise. "Rogue Squadron" marks a return to the "Star Wars" universe for Jenkins, who has expressed admiration for its legacy and impact.
