A young woman, who claims to have recently worked at NBCUniversal, lists the follow-up to 2010's 'Shrek Forever After' among those hitting theaters in 2015 on her online resume.

AceShowbiz - An NBC intern has seemingly let the cat, or in this case an ogre, out of the bag. While Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Animation have not announced an official release date of "Shrek 5", a former intern at NBCUniversal has gotten ahead of the companies and spilled the supposed secret detail.

According to the leaked info, the fifth installment in the animated film franchise will arrive in 2025. This is according to a screengrab of an alleged LinkedIn resume from a young woman who claims to haver recently worked at NBCUniversal, the parent company of DreamWorks.

On the social media platform, the woman listed out a handful of different roles she had while working for the company. One of those was generating "consumer product ideas" for a variety of projects, including both "Wicked" films, "Despicable Me" and "Shrek 5".

In those description, the intern listed "Shrek 5" release date as sometime in 2025. After the post generated online buzz due to the juicy detail, it has been deleted though the screenshots have made their way online.

"Shrek 5" has been long planned since the success of "Shrek 2" in 2004. However, following the release of the fourth film, "Shrek Forever After", in 2010, the project has shown very little progress.

In 2018, Chris Meledandri, the founder and CEO of Illumination, was tasked with rebooting the "Shrek" franchise. In April of this year, he gave an update on the new film, telling Variety that the film was still in talks with the original cast expected to return.

"You look at what the core elements are that audiences have loved, and you do your very best to honor those core elements," he explained. "And then you're hard at work to build story elements and new characters that take you to brand new places. The original cast is a huge part of that."

"We anticipate the cast coming back," the 63-year-old executive continued, "Talks are starting now, and every indication that we've gotten is there's tremendous enthusiasm on behalf of the actors to return."
