After releasing her bombshell memoir 'The Woman in Me', the '...Baby One More Time' hitmaker makes use of her Instagram account to announce that she's preparing for a new song.

AceShowbiz - Britney Spears is gearing up for a music career return. After releasing her bombshell memoir "The Woman in Me", the "...Baby One More Time" hitmaker made use of her Instagram account to announce that she's preparing for a new song.

"I wrote a new song !!! Hate you to like me !!!" the pop princess wrote on the photo-sharing platform on Saturday, October 28. She stressed, "No beef with anyone … just being a narcissist in a claimed, self-entitled way !!!"

Further explaining her project, the mom of two added that "it's to accumulate interest by giving ego with my eyes closed because I hear important people do that these days."

Even though Britney made it clear that she doesn't intend to feud with anyone with her upcoming song, some fans thought that the "Toxic" singer was shading Selena Gomez. Back in 2020, the "Only Murders in the Building" actress released her breakup anthem "Hate You to Love Me", on which she talked about her split from Justin Bieber.

"Is she shading Selena again?" one user asked. Echoing the sentiment, another added, "Britney Spears can't enjoy her memoir and all the praise she's getting… she just had to find a way to insult Selena somehow." One fan, meanwhile, defended Britney, saying, "Just because Britney Spears posted a lyrics [sic] kinda mimicking Selena Gomez song does not mean its a shade for her."

This wasn't the first time Britney was accused of shading her fellow former Disney star. In October 2022, the "Lucky" songstress was said to be calling the Rare Beauty founder "hypocrite" for the latter's 2016 speech where she told young girls she "[didn't want to see [their] bodies" on Instagram.

"They say 'This is NOT something I would do' yet those women are the very ones who get 4 million dollar budget videos made about sucking and licking on homemade ice cream !!!!" Britney wrote at the time. She appeared to refer to Selena's "Ice Cream" music video featuring BLACKPINK.

Britney went on writing in the shady post, "So the next time I see someone with a big budget video sucking on lollipops yet giving righteous speeches shaming other women for exposing their bodies, I would like to tell those people don't be a hypocrite as you suck on your lollipop having HUGE budget dreams…" The "Slave 4 U" hitmaker, however, later quickly clarified that her rant "had nothing to do with anyone specific at all."
