The 'Blinding Lights' singer amuses fans with his reaction to a fan saying that they can't listen to his music again after watching the controversial HBO series, which stars him as well as Lily-Rose Depp.

AceShowbiz - The Weeknd never hesitates to respond to fans' opinion on him. The "Blinding Lights" singer amused fans with his reaction to a fan saying that they couldn't listen to his music again after watching "The Idol".

On Sunday, July 9, the Canadian star caught wind of a fan suggesting that the controversial HBO series had ruined his image. "The idol permanently altered the weeknd's image that now i can't even listen to his music," the user tweeted.

The Weeknd later quote-retweeted the post to share his reaction. Laughing off the apparent diss, the singer/actor clapped back at the person by posting a picture of Tedros, his character on the series, wearing a judgemental expression on his face. The "Starboy" hitmaker left his post captionless.

His fans came to his defense in his replies with one saying, "Have you not heard his music??? Because it's the SAME." Another fan wrote, "Models, drugs, super stars, fame, control, manipulation!!! You were never a fan," before urging the OP to "go back and listen to 'TRILOGY.' "

Prior to this, The Weeknd took to his Instagram account to reflect on his "bumpy" journey with "The Idol", which faced fierce backlash over its explicit scenes. After the show's finale aired on July 2, The Weeknd, who co-created the show alongside "Euphoria" showrunner Sam Levinson, wrote on Instagram, "The finale. Grateful to share this moment with you all as the season comes to an end. Continue to push the vision no matter how bumpy the journey."

He also addressed the backlash over the show's explicit moments, insisting the sex scenes on the show aren't meant to be "overtly sexy." Asked in particular about a particularly graphic scene in episode two, he told GQ magazine, "No. There's nothing sexy about it. When we use 'Basic Instinct' as a reference, we're using Verhoeven. Verhoeven is the king of '90s satire thriller-yes, there's moments of 'sexy' in his films but there are other moments that are very cheesy and hilarious."

"However you're feeling watching that scene, whether it's discomfort, or you feel gross, or you feel embarrassed for the characters. It's all those emotions adding up to: This guy is in way over his head, this situation is one where he is not supposed to be here," he added.
