On the day of what should have been her daughter's nuptials to fiance Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, the Duchess of York reminds her that 'the most important thing is health and love.'

AceShowbiz - Former British royal Sarah Ferguson has offered her daughter sweet words of encouragement on what would have been her wedding day.

Princess Beatrice and her fiance Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were forced to scrap their 29 May nuptials due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the royal's mum was still celebrating on Friday.

"Love you my darling Beatrice," the Duchess of York wrote in a caption attached to a childhood photo of her daughter she posted on Instagram. "You have given me more joy than I could ever wish for."

"I am so excited to celebrate yours and Edo's love when we all are out of lockdown. The most important thing is health and love and today I send it to you and all the other people that were getting married during this time... so proud of you all."

Princess Beatrice's wedding, which was formally announced in February, was due to take place at The Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace in London, followed by a private reception to be hosted by the bride's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.

The nuptials were cancelled in April and no new date has been set.

"They aren't even thinking about their wedding at this time," a spokesperson for Princess Beatrice told People. "There will come a time to rearrange, but that's not yet."

Ferguson's other daughter - Beatrice's sister Eugenie - wed Jack Brooksbank in 2018.
