The Chinese actress, who stars in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past', has been spotted in public for the first time since her reported detention due to tax evasion case.

AceShowbiz - Chinese actress Fan Bingbing has resurfaced after she was reported missing last month. The 37-year-old model, television and pop singer was recently spotted at Beijing Capital airport, four months after she vanished without a trace.

In some photos obtained by CNN, a woman believed to be Bingbing was seen keeping a low profile, wearing a black ensemble, dark glasses and a baseball-style cap. She seemed to try to hide herself as a man was shielding her with a large black umbrella despite no sunlight.

Bingbing, who is one of China's highest-paid and most bankable stars, raised a question about her whereabouts after she hadn't been seen in public since June, when she visited a children's hospital in Tibet. Her disappearance was quickly related to tax evasion matters after Securities Daily, part of the state-run media, published an article on September 6 saying that Bingbing had been brought "under control and about to receive legal judgment." The article was later deleted.

In early October, China's State Administration of Taxation confirmed that Bingbing owes up to $128 million in back taxes, fees and additional fines following an investigation. She was fined nearly $70 million for underreported earnings and an additional $60 million in back taxes her production company owes.

The actress also released a statement to address the matter, admitting her guilt. "I failed my country which nurtured me; I failed the society which trusted me; I failed the fans who liked me," she wrote on her Weibo account. "Everything I ever accomplished came from the country and the people's support. I would be nothing without the party and the country's good policies, as well as the love and support of the people." She added, "I totally accepted all of them, and will raise funds to pay my taxes and penalties regardless of any obstacles."

She was reportedly put on "residential surveillance" at a "holiday resort" reportedly located near Wuxi, in Jiangsu province during the investigation. She was said to have been released in late September and then returned to Beijing, where she resides.

Following her tax evasion case, her movie "Air Strike" release has been canceled in China. The World War II thriller, which also stars Bruce Willis and Korean actor Song Seung Heon, was supposed to be released on October 26. However, director Xiao Feng posted on Weibo on Wednesday, October 17 that it was "time to let go" although he had worked on the film for eight years.
