AceShowbiz - Adding a new family member surely means more money to spend. A new report suggests that Prince Charles has been spending a whooping amount of penny since daughter-in-law Meghan Markle, who married son Prince Harry in May, joined the royal family.
It's said that the Prince of Wales' spending for the activities of Prince Harry as well as Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has increased by 40 percent ever since the former "Suits" actress came to the scene. Telegraph details that Prince Charles paid $6.5 million for Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate last year. It jumps $1.88 million from the previous year's $4.6 million.
According to the report, the cost increased at the end of 2017 following the engagement of Harry and Meghan. The plan for public engagements for the couple have also contributed to the rise. Meghan's Ralph & Russo dress which she wore for her engagement photos at Frogmore House alone costs $78,000.
However, Meghan isn't solely the reason behind the increase as the outlays are thought to reflect the young royals' undertaking more duties since Queen Elizabeth scales down her workload.
Prince Charles can afford all this thanks to his heredity estate, the Duchy of Cornwall. Laying 131,000 acres across 23 counties in southwest England, it reportedly brings in an average $28.5 million a year.
