The studio has hired in-demand female scribes Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer to pen the most recent script for the Silver Sable and Black Cat-centric film.

AceShowbiz - Sony has enlisted a pair of in-demand scribes to tackle its Silver Sable and Black Cat-centric film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer have been hired by the studio to pen what will be the final draft of the upcoming Spidey spin-off movie.

The untitled Silver Sable and the Black Cat project is set to be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, who wrote and directed "The Secret Life of Bees". Gina also wrote the first draft of the script. Earlier drafts were written by Chris Yost ("Thor: The Dark World", "Thor: Ragnarok") and Lisa Joy-Nolan (HBO's "Westworld").

Serving as producers for the upcoming flick are Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal. Sony is expected to begin production this summer for a February 8, 2019 U.S. release. There are no details available yet regarding the stars who will portray the titular characters.

While Silver Sable and Black Cat are characters within the Spider-Man universe that is controlled by Sony, the webslinger himself isn't expected to appear in the spin-off film. Black Cat, whose alter-ego is Felicia Hardy, is an acrobatic cat burglar, while Silver Sable a.k.a. Silver Sablinova is a mercenary who hunts war criminals.

Lindsey has worked on "Chaos Walking", Lionsgate's upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller starring Tom Holland, who is playing the current Spider-Man in Marvel movies, and Daisy Ridley. In addition, the writer has been part of several high-profile writers rooms, including Quentin Tarantino's "Star Trek", Hasbro's "Transformers" projects, Paramount's "Ology" franchise and Legendary's "Godzilla vs. Kong".

Meanwhile, Geneva wrote "Captain Marvel" for Marvel, with Brie Larson starring as the titular superheroine and Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck serving behind the lens, as well as the "Tomb Raider" reboot starring Alicia Vikander. The first female-centric Marvel movie is currently filming and due out on March 8, 2019, while the Roar Unthaug-directed action, adventure movie is coming next month, on March 16 to be exact.
