Addressing his split from the 'Chained to the Rhythm' singer for the first time, the 40-year-old British actor reveals he is still friends with her, saying that breakups 'don't have to be about hate.'

AceShowbiz - Orlando Bloom has finally addressed his split from Katy Perry for the first time. The British actor has nothing but love for the "Chained to the Rhythm" hitmaker when opening up about his split from her in the May issue of ELLE U.K., saying that the two have managed to remain friends.

"We're friends, it's good," Bloom insists. He continues, "We're all grown up. She happens to be someone who is very visible, but I don't think anybody cares about what I'm up to. Nor should they. It's between us. It's better to set an example for kids and show that [breakups] don't have to be about hate."

That's a lesson he learned upon splitting from Miranda Kerr in 2013 after three years of marriage. Bloom is still close to the supermodel, and it's not just for the sake of their 6-year-old son. "With Miranda, there was a sense that I don't want my son to go back through the internet where people made up lies. Miranda and I have a remarkable relationship," the actor says. "We co-parent really well."

During the interview, Bloom also addresses the infamous photos of him paddle boarding naked while on vacation in early August 2016. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor admits it "was extremely surprising" to learn the paparazzi had snapped photos during his private vacation with a bikini-clad Perry.

"I wouldn't have put myself in that position if I'd thought it would happen. I've been photographed a million times in a million different ways. I have a good radar. We'd been completely alone for five days-nothing around us. There was no way anyone could get anything," he recalls. "I had a moment of feeling free." He then asks, "What can I tell you?" concluding, "Note to self: You're never free. Ha!"
