Months after she passed away in February, the Los Angeles County Coroner reveals that chiropractor ruptured an artery in her neck which caused the stroke.

AceShowbiz - The cause of Katie May's sudden passing has been revealed. The Playboy model died in February, days after suffering a stroke, and now a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Coroner says that the 34-year-old star passed away as a result of an injury sustained during a "neck manipulation by chiropractor."

Los Angeles Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter tells PEOPLE that a chiropractor tore Katie's left vertebral artery when shifting her neck. The injury cut off blood flow to her brain and caused the stroke. Her caused of death is listed as "infarction of brain" and has been ruled an accident.

"She had some clotting and went to the hospital where they tried to do some procedures but she passed away," Winter says. "I personally have not seen this before."

Prior to her death, Katie tweeted that she had hurt her neck during a photo shoot. She visited a chiropractor for an adjustment twice. She suffered a stroke on Monday, February 1, and was on life support until Thursday.
