The 'Dumb and Dumber' actor is facing wrongful death lawsuit filed by Mark Burton, who alleges the actor is responsible for Cathriona's fatal overdose last year.

AceShowbiz - Jim Carrey is sued for wrongful death by the estranged husband of his late girlfriend Cathriona White. Mark Burton claims in his suit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court that Jim is responsible for Cathriona's fatal overdose last year.
"This is a case about Jim Carrey using his immense wealth and celebrity status to illegally obtain and distribute highly addictive and, in this case, deadly, controlled substances [which killed Cathriona]," reads the suit.
According to the suit, Cathriona took her own life by swallowing a mixture of Ambien, Propranolol and Percocet which Jim illegally purchased under the false name "Arthur King". Mark claims Jim and his physician "were engaged in a conspiracy to wrongfully and illegally provide medications to Carrey under false names."
Mark also alleges Jim attempted to cover up his involvement after her death. "[Jim] sent a bogus text message on Sept. 27, 2015 to White (who was already deceased) pretending as though he had misplaced the drugs and insinuating White may have taken them from Carrey without his knowledge," according to the suit.
The filing also claims that Jim had an "obsession with controlling and manipulating White" and "had the ability to monitor surveillance cameras on a home White often stayed at and was able, by design, to view the residence remotely to keep track of White's comings and goings."
Mark and his lawyer Michael Avenatti are asking for the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office to launch an investigation into Cathriona's death. "We look forward to the facts and evidence relating to Mr. Carrey's conduct and role in the death of Ms. White coming to light," Michael says.
A representative for Jim hasn't commented on the issue yet.
